Madeeha, 29, is the founder and director of Women through Film, an organization that teaches girls and women the art of filmmaking and how to use film as a tool for social change. The organization seeks to challenge societal norms in Pakistan where victims of rape and sexual abuse are taught to stay silent and perpetrators walk free. Her goal: to create a community of female filmmakers who understand their role as agents of change. A filmmaker and film director, Madeeha is the recipient of the Life Effects Star Award. One of her recent videos on the rights of gender minorities received more than one million views on Facebook in less than a week.
